I grew up in NewMexico and southern Colorado. family
vacations were spent on the highways and backroads and tails of
the American southwest, i saw buildings along Route 66, and in the
National Parks and in the cities which I loved. Later I learned
some of these were the work of the WPA. There is a
style of art deco uniquely adaped to
the West and Southwest which draws from Native American , Streamline
Moderne, Social Realism, craft. Skill, Attitude , Romance and Fantasy
all in one. I am still in love
with it and am beginning to make some tile pieces from the genre.
